Capone's story begins when he was about a year and a half old. My 16 year old son was volunteering at an animal rescue. He went with the rescue to the shelter to pick out dogs to fill 5 empty spots that they had. After picking 5 dogs, my son took one last walk around and called me.
"Mom, I'm at the shelter picking dogs. I was walking around while they're finishing up the paperwork and I found this dog all the way in the back. He's on his 10th day. Mom, they're putting him down at 5 o'clock. We already picked the dogs for the spots we have. I don't know what to do. He's a good boy. I can't leave him here."
"OK. Bring him home."
That was 12 years ago and it was one of the BEST decisions I've ever made.
He is the most chill dog I have ever known. He loves hugs and kisses and scratches behind his ears. He's never worried about a thing because he knows how much he is loved. I could never imagine our life without Capone. I am so grateful every day that the stars aligned and we found each other.
On May 18th, 2023, our hearts sank as Capone was diagnosed with Mast Cell Disease, a type of cancer. It was a tough day, filled with uncertainty and worry about our beloved fur baby's future. But Capone, with his unwavering spirit and boundless love, gave us strength.
The following weeks were a whirlwind of vet visits and emotional ups and downs. On June 13th, 2023, Capone's amazing vet team performed surgery to remove the tumor. Their expertise and care were nothing short of miraculous, and we couldn't be more grateful.
This journey has reminded us of the resilience and love that Capone brings into our lives. He continues to be our brave little warrior, facing each day with a wagging tail and a joyful heart. We cherish every moment with him and are incredibly thankful for the support and compassion we've received from friends, family, and Capone's medical team.
Capone's fight isn't over, but we're hopeful and ready to support him every step of the way. His strength and love inspire us daily, and we are so blessed to have him in our lives.
Just when we thought the toughest part was behind us, we discovered another challenge in Capone's journey. Following his tumor removal surgery, we found a small, cancerous spot on his nose. Our hearts ached at the news, but we knew we had to stay strong for our brave boy.
Capone's resilience continues to amaze us. This new spot is being closely monitored and treated with medications. We are grateful for the incredible support of Capone's vet team, who are doing everything they can to keep him comfortable and healthy. Their dedication and expertise have been a constant source of comfort during this difficult time.
Despite these challenges, Capone remains our happy, loving companion. His joyful spirit and boundless affection remind us daily of the importance of cherishing each moment. He doesn't let anything hold him back, and his strength inspires us to face each day with hope and determination.
As we focused on Capone's battle with cancer, we were heartbroken to discover that his little brother, Tank, was also very sick. Tank, developed T-Cell Lymphoma, a type or cancer that couldn't be treated with medications or surgery. Despite our hopes and efforts, we faced the painful reality that we couldn't save our sweet boy.
In just a few short weeks, Tank's condition worsened. On November 27th, 2023, at 6:27 pm, our brave and loving Tank crossed the Rainbow Bridge, surrounded by his family. It was an incredibly difficult moment, filled with tears and heartache, but also with an overwhelming sense of love and gratitude for the time we had with him.
Tank was a gentle soul, always full of joy and affection. His playful nature and warm presence brought so much happiness into our lives. Losing him has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts, but we are comforted by the memories of the beautiful moments we shared. He will always be remembered for his courage, loyalty, and the endless love he gave us.
Though Tank is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in our hearts. We cherish every memory and know that he is now at peace, free from pain. Tank's journey has reminded us of the preciousness of life and the importance of treasuring each moment with those we love.
